Hilton
Head Island is a beautiful resort town in southeastern South Carolina,
just a few miles north of Savannah, Georgia. Hilton Head offers all
the usual amenities you'll find in an oceanfront resort but with
some very nice touches that make it a more luxurious experience.
A very noticeable difference from most resort towns is the landscaping
- almost all businesses, hotels and residential areas are hidden
from the main roads by a multitude of trees. You're often unaware
of how close you are to all the usual stores and restaurants. You
may also enjoy the abundance of bicycle trails throughout the island.
The beach offers a good variety of seashells for early risers - and
a great place to enjoy the sand and surf the rest of the day.
You'll also find a great golf course around just about every corner
on Hilton Head. Most of the hotel resorts have one or more courses
available to their guests and other golfers. Some of the world's
most noted golf course architects - including Jack Nicklaus, Pete
Dye, Robert Trent Jones, Gary Player and Arnold Palmer - have had
their designs implemented in this golfer's paradise. From the Harbour
Town Golf Links (home of an annual PGA tour event and instantly recognizable
by the lighthouse) to the multiple courses at Palmetto Dunes to the
popular courses in the Bluffton area just off the island - and seemingly
everywhere in between - Hilton Head Island is rightfully one of America's
most popular golf travel destinations. |
